Synenco was established in 1999 in Calgary, Alberta, as a provider of automation and engineering solutions. Over the past 50 years, we have grown from a regional company into a global leader in industrial automation and sustainability-focused engineering.

 

In 2005, Synenco expanded its capabilities by integrating advanced control systems into its offerings. By 2010, we had completed over 500 projects worldwide, helping industries optimize their processes and reduce environmental impact. Today, Synenco continues to innovate, delivering cutting-edge solutions that drive efficiency and sustainability.

1999 - The Beginning of Synenco

Founded by two visionary engineers in Calgary, Synenco started as a small firm specializing in industrial process optimization.

2005 - Northern Lights Oil Sands Project

In 2005, Synenco Energy marked a turning point in its history with the launch of the Northern Lights Oil Sands project, located some 100 km northeast of Fort McMurray, Alberta. This integrated project included an open-pit oil sands mine, bitumen extraction facilities, and an upgrader designed to produce over 100,000 barrels per day of synthetic crude oil.

2008 - Acquisition by Total

In 2008, Synenco Energy experienced a significant milestone in its corporate history. Total, the French multinational energy company, launched a friendly takeover bid for Synenco Energy. The acquisition was valued at 480 million Canadian dollars, equivalent to approximately 300 million euros.

2010 - Global Reach Achieved

With projects completed in over 20 countries, Synenco became a trusted partner for industries seeking sustainable engineering solutions.

2017 - Renewable Energy Integration

Synenco launched its first renewable energy project in collaboration with Siemens Energy. This milestone marked our entry into the green energy sector, integrating solar and wind power systems with advanced automation technologies to support sustainable industrial growth.

2025 - Driving Sustainability

Synenco leads the way in integrating renewable energy systems with industrial automation, setting new standards for environmental responsibility.
